Boats & Babies

This past weekend I had the privilege of hosting a baby shower for a friend who is new to the area. I love that our church celebrates every new baby, not just the first one! We chose a nautical theme (dad is in the Navy) and had so much fun putting this together. We chose blues and yellows for our color theme and decorated with boats, fish netting, sand and shells. We served brunch- sausage stacks, deviled eggs, muffins, yogurt parfaits, fruit cups, coffee, herbal tea and orange juice. We had about 35 ladies of all ages attend and celebrate with this mom who is expecting her 6th baby in just a few weeks!

One of the ladies organized some activities- a quiz to get to know our guest of honor better, as well as guessing how many goldfish crackers were inside a sippy cup. We also signed a copy of the book "The Rainbow Fish" for her to take home as a keepsake...

The utensils are folded inside a napkin and tied with twine and a lifesaver

One of the five beautiful pregnant mommas at the shower!

We served 2 different chicken sausages

We topped the chocolate chip banana muffins with colorful paper sails

Decorations included a trifle bowl filled with sand and candles and tied with twine and a paper anchor

Deviled egg "boats" complete with bell pepper sails

We used pretty scrapbook paper to make tags to label the food and drinks

Homemade yogurt parfaits with organic granola and raspberries, served in disposable wine glasses

Guests could write a message of encouragement and place it in a bottle

Opening gifts, with big sister looking on

Party favors were cellophane baggies filled with lifesavers and tied with blue and white ribbon
